3D tubing renders with metal connector tips as an experiment with tubing designs. Medical tubing is a challenge since tubing typically does not like to stay in an ideal position and tubing connecting two or more devices becomes complicated. As well, the photo touchup work increases the more tape, string and other support systems are inserted into the scene.
Lighting can also be a challenge for medical tubing scenes. Different tubing textures and materials require different lighting. Reproducing the exact same studio between lighting setups is a pain, but can be saved and reused in 3d solid modeling virtual environments. The tubing can be reformed, retextured and studios tweaked, days or even months after the original renders, allowing fast reproduction without real studio costs.
Special effects such as adding heating elements inside the tube, miniature cameras and lights, cutting and grabbing tools and anything else can be added to the scene without disturbing the original tubing models. Creating different renders with different models visible allows creative photo manipulation for medical ads, promotional videos, etc.
